Increasing the area under saffron cultivation in Ardabil
The head of the Jihad Agriculture Organization of Ardabil province announced the distribution of 56. 32 tons
of subsidized saffron onions in Ardabil province.
Adeel Sarvi, head of Ardabil Jihad-e-Agriculture Organization, pointed out that currently the area under saffron cultivation in the province
is 12 hectares with an annual production of 12 kg, adding:
the area under saffron cultivation will reach 30 hectares this year.
He considered the low water requirement of saffron,
high job creation and ease of cultivation and its adaptation to the conditions of the region as the reasons for the development of the project
in the province and added:

considering the welcome of the exploiters of the agricultural sector.
Referring to the weather conditions, drought crisis and water shortage, he added:
Saffron is considered as one of the plants with low expectations for water, which can be processed and produced in sandy and clay soils,
and most importantly in terms of having a very high economic value of In any case,
it is economically viable that with the cooperation of applicants for the cultivation of this product with managers and experts
of Jihad-e-Agriculture, the area under cultivation will increase year by year.
