Increasing the area under saffron cultivation in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari
The Deputy Minister of Plant Production Improvement of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Jihad-e-Agriculture Organization said: It is predicted that the area under saffron cultivation in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari will reach 130 hectares this year.
Hamidreza Danesh stated: Saffron cultivation in the province will start from the end of August and the harvest time of this crop will be in November.
He pointed out that the area under cultivation of this crop last year was 100 hectares, adding: The average harvest last year was four kilograms per hectare, which is expected to reach 130 hectares this year.
Danesh, noting that the province’s saffron has been well received in the country, said: The saffron product of this province is at a high level in terms of quality and has its own customers in the country.
Referring to the cultivation of saffron in most parts of the province, he said: The highest area under cultivation of this product is reported in the cities of Bonn and Farsan.
Danesh regarding the cultivation of this crop, added: extension and educational classes and necessary instructions for planting this crop have been done to the farmers of the province, and facilities will also be provided to the farmers of this crop.
The Deputy Minister of Crop Production Improvement of the Jihad Agricultural Organization of the province pointed out: Considering the location and climate of the province, as well as the high quality of saffron and the existence of human resources, the development of cultivation and increasing saffron production is on the agenda of this organization
