Increasing the price of Iranian saffron to more than $ 1000

Ali Hosseini, stating that the growth of saffron exports is not as much as we estimate for this year, said: The first statistics show that the amount of exports in the first 10 months of this year is almost in line with the same period last year.
He announced the amount of exports in the first 10 months of last year more than 100 tons.

Emphasizing that despite the fact that the export volume remains unchanged, its value is expected to increase, Hosseini added: The price of each kilogram of Iranian saffron in the world market has increased to more than $ 1,000.

He added: If the stated price is maintained by the end of the year, the export value of the country’s saffron will be higher than last year.

Hosseini expressed concern about the increase in the activities of saffron smugglers, calling it one of the obstacles to increasing the saffron export value for this year.

He said: Smugglers supply Iranian saffron at a price of 600 to 700 dollars, which can reduce the world price of Iranian saffron.

Hosseini also cited the damage to the reputation of the Iranian product in the world market and the unsuitable growth of exports despite the increase in production as a result of the smuggling boom.

According to this economic activist; The saffron supplied by the smugglers is of poor quality, which destroys the reputation of the Iranian product.

According to the Ministry of Jihad Agriculture, the amount of saffron production this year was 404 tons.

Hosseini emphasized: although the increase of 404 tons of saffron is good news, but it does not have a good performance compared to the area under cultivation of 110,000 hectares.

A member of the National Saffron Council of Iran, emphasizing that the average yield of saffron production in the country is 3.5 tons per hectare, said: This figure is very low and shows the low productivity of production resources and their waste.

Hosseini stated that the price of each kilogram of saffron in the domestic market is 6 million and 500 to 10 million and 500 thousand tomans.
