Iran produces 180 tons of saffron in the world
The representative of the people of Kashmar in the parliament stated: out of 220 tons of saffron produced in the world, more than 30 tons of it is produced and processed in 3 cities of Bardaskan, Kashmar and Khalilabad.
Ismail Nia, while visiting the gardens of Bardaskan city, said: The saffron health workshops that have been established in Bardaskan, in addition to employing a large number of women, have been able to separate the saffron flower from a completely hygienic saffron flower, which was a worthy action.
The national member of the Saffron Council of the country said that the proper packaging of saffron causes more appreciation for the country and added: Saffron is an invigorating plant against cancer and strengthens the nerves.
Announcing that saffron is an economic product, he said: With careful planning, Iran can play a leading role in the pricing of this strategic product, given that it produces 180 tons of saffron in the world.
The Deputy Chairman of the Agriculture Commission of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, noting that the countries of Afghanistan, India, etc. also cultivate saffron, added: We must try to establish our position in the world through universal and professional management.
He added: If we can have professional management in planning and take into account quality and quantity, price fluctuations and game reasoning will be prevented.
The representative of the people of Bardaskan further stated about other products of the city, including pomegranate: Iran has 50% of the world’s pomegranate production and Bardaskan is one of the leading cities in pomegranate production in Khorasan Razavi province with a production of 50,000 tons.
Ismail Nia added: 129 tons of pomegranates have been harvested per hectare in this region, and since the main pomegranate crop of this region is from Caspian cultivars and has taken the export code, it is important for export. Also exported to Japan.
He considered the place of conversion industries in the city empty and called on the private sector to take action in this matter with the cooperation of the government.
