Iran, the world’s largest exporter of saffron

 

Ali Hosseini – National Council of saffron – in an interview with the Iranian Students News Agency correspondent Agriculture ( ISNA ) said that Iran’s annual consumption of about 300 tonnes of saffron in the world with around 75 million inhabitants and an annual consumption of about 40 tons , the world ‘s most widely consumed is considered.

He ‘s among 40 to 50 consumer saffron , America consumes about 50 tons of saffron is one of the most frequently used applications and other countries . , And 96 percent of Iranian Saffron Saffron is the world ‘s largest exporter .

Saffron National Council said the date of the last few years due to problems such as boycotts, market Saffron Iranian Saffron America and often out of reach Iran through the markets like Spain and Italy . Also, a limited amount of annual saffron production in India and Greece is bought by American businessmen .

Hosseini said the saffron consumers mainly Italy, Spain , France , Germany , Canada , Australia and countries in Asia and the Middle East as a major consumer product, Saudi Arabia, UAE , Bahrain , Kuwait , Oman, Jordan said.

Iranian saffron is still widely consumed in heating the fallen . National Council Saffron continued after the Iran – America , with an annual consumption of 50 tons of saffron, Arabic and African countries such as Egypt’s second but very small share of the market with saffron .
