The director of the saffron research group of Birjand University,
pointing out that saffron produced in Iran has no residues of toxins and pests, said:
According to scientific studies conducted in the form of research projects,
more than 50% of farmers do not use herbicides to control weeds in saffron fields.

He said that the control of weeds in saffron fields is directly related to its performance, adding:
Traditional weed control of saffron fields has been done without the use of chemical methods.

To achieve this, it is necessary to give training to saffron growers to strictly avoid the use of herbicides and use agricultural control methods.
