Most saffron in Lorestan province is exported outside Iran
The director of Jihad Keshavarzi of Lorestan center said: most of the saffron in the province is exported abroad.
Murad Biranvand stated: The area under saffron cultivation in Khorramabad is 72 hectares and compared to last year, which was 40 hectares, good growth has been observed.
He continued: It is predicted that about 300 kg of saffron will be harvested from this area. Saffron works well in low-yield and dryland lands and saffron growers are satisfied in terms of product quality, yield and income.
The director of Khorramabad Agricultural Jihad stated: About 400 people are cultivating saffron in this city, some of whom pack it for themselves and sell it under their own brand.
He said: Considering the good conditions of saffron cultivation, we are trying to establish a saffron growers’ cooperative in Khorramabad.
Biranvand, stating that the quality of Lorestan saffron is excellent, added: Most of Lorestan saffron products are exported abroad, but our most important problem is the lack of packaging industries and are exported under the brand of other provinces.
