The cultivation of saffron is the best option for areas where there is a shortage of water because irrigation of saffron is carried out in the fall and winter, and most of the water supplied from the rain is provided, according to Sima’s director, the Jihad Director of Estahban County.
Ranjbar added: Saffron consumes 3,000 cubic meters of water per hectare per year.
He said that the average production of saffron is 5 kg per hectare, and an annual 800 thousand kilograms of dry saffron are harvested in the city.
Ranjbar said: Esfahan saffron is of low quality, flavor and aroma, with 30% being exported to Spain, Germany, France, China, Japan, South Korea and the Gulf.
