Zabih Allah Gharib, referring to the harvest of four kilograms of saffron per hectare, predicted that this province’s saffron will reach 400kg this year.
“The saffron product of this province is of high quality and has special customers both inside and outside the country,” he said, referring to the low need of saffron for water and its high added value.
Chaharmahal va Bakhtiari, Director General of Jihad-e-Agriculture, announced the highest level of saffron cultivation in the province in the city of Bonn and said: The product of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari saffron is consumed in different parts of the country.
Roasted bulb saffron is a brown-colored pod with stems and six purple petals and three red stringed chamomile that is used to make orange flowers.
Researchers find that the main metabolites of saffron inhibit the growth and proliferation of tumor cells, but do not affect the growth of normal cells.
For more than 20 years, farmers in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province have been saffron growers.
One of the most famous saffron cultivars is Zagros Saffron, which is considered as the primary habitat of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari wild saffron.
