Producing saffron pills to control cancer cells
Mohammad Ali Behdani, professor and faculty member of the Department of Ecology of Crop Plants at Birjand University, described Iran as the largest saffron producer in the world, adding that these products are mostly exported to other countries raw materials and there is no place for technical products of saffron in the world. To overcome this vacuum, we implemented various research projects with the participation of special departments and the support of the Headquarters for the development of medicinal plants and traditional medicine of the scientific deputy.
He said that in these studies, we investigated organic saffron free of any contamination, poison, chemical fertilizers and other herbicides, stated: “In these studies, we conducted joint studies on the antitumor effect of this plant and the superiority of organic saffron in inhibiting Cancer cells were identified as antioxidants.
Saffron tablets were born from other achievements of these studies and noted: The pill is licensed by the Food and Drug Administration and we intend to sell it as a drug at pharmacies.
This product is exported to other countries in raw form, and unfortunately, there are no technological products available for this product.
To overcome this problem, with the participation of private sectors and support for the development of plants and traditional medicine, the Vice-Chancellor became operational.
According to studies on saffron free of contamination and toxic and chemical fertilizers, we concluded that organic saffron has been proven to contain cancer cells called antioxidants.
The production of saffron pills is one of the achievements of these studies, and the pill is licensed by the Food and Drug Administration to sell it in drugstores.
