Production forecast of 700 kg of saffron in Kermanshah province

The head of the Jihad Agricultural Organization of Kermanshah province said: this year, with an increase of 96 hectares, the area under saffron cultivation in Kermanshah province has reached 185 hectares.

Noorbakhsh Hatami stated: With the increase in production per unit of expected production, 700 kg of saffron has been estimated from the current level of 185 hectares.

Hatami, stating that until 2017, the area under saffron cultivation in the province was 89 hectares and its production was 360 kg, added: In 1397, due to the provision of 3.6 billion tomans from provincial credits, more than 300 tons of saffron onions with excellent quality among farmers requesting cultivation Was distributed.

Referring to the production of 450 kg of saffron in the current year, Hatami stated: The average production in saffron farms in the first year of construction is half a kg and in the second, third and fourth years are 2, 4 and 7, respectively, and will reach 11 kg in the fifth year.

Hatami added: 17 kg yield has been recorded in the sample farms of the province.

Hatami continued: during the three-year plan of the agricultural sector, the area under saffron cultivation in the province will reach 1,200 hectares and its production will reach seven tons.

The head of Kermanshah Agricultural Jihad Organization continued by stating that saffron is one of the most susceptible plant species to the province’s climate, adding: The need for irrigation in this crop is very small and limited to double irrigation in September.

Hatami added: The quality tests performed on the saffron product produced in the province have shown its excellent quality.
