Production of 20 tons of saffron in Bakhrez city

Simultaneously with the end of the saffron harvest season in Bakhrez, 20 tons of dried saffron were produced in this city.

The director of Jihad Keshavarzi of Bakhrez city said: in the current crop year, the area under saffron cultivation in this city increased by 500 hectares to 4,500 hectares, which was an increase of 12% compared to last year.
Mohammad Dostkhah Ahmadi added: From this area, 4,000 hectares are fertile and 500 hectares are infertile, and for each hectare of saffron cultivation, 150 people worked from planting to harvest.
He stated: The yield of fresh saffron flowers in Bakhrez fields in the last crop year reached 350 kg per hectare and a total of more than 18 tons of dry saffron was harvested in this city.
Dostkhah Ahmadi continued: Cultivation of saffron, due to its low need for water, has been met with a great response from farmers, and therefore provide the required chemical and micronutrient fertilizers, use new irrigation methods, fight weeds, prevent grazing in Farms and providing technical guidance and advice are done every year to support saffron growers.
The director of Bakhrez Agricultural Jihad also pointed to the benefit of eight thousand households in the city from this product and said: Last year, the average production of dry saffron per hectare of Bakhrez farms reached four kilograms and 500 grams.
He added: this year, 510 tons of chemical fertilizers were distributed among saffron farmers.
