Production of 5400 kg of saffron in Sabzevar in Iran
Mansour Boroghmadi, deputy director and director of agricultural Jihad in Khorasan district of Sabzevar, Iran, said: This production is from 1500 hectares with a mean yield of 3 and a half kilogram per hectare.
He said that this year’s production represents a 20% increase from the previous year, adding that this increase is due to an increase in the average yield of saffron production per unit area, which results from proper management of the farm and a good distribution of crops.
To farmers who are interested in cultivating saffron, he recommended that you choose this product for cultivating the water resources you have.
He added that the belief that the product of saffron is a product of dehydration is not right, because the product of saffron requires at least five full irrigation, and irrigation with a tanker does not have economic justification.
In this regard, Mohammad Aziminejad, responsible for the gardening of Sabzevar Agriculture Jihad in Iran, pointed to the cultivated land of saffron, said: Due to the shorter length of most Qanats in the area, the discharge of this product depends on the amount of precipitation in the sky.
Mohammad Aziminejad advised saffroners: to strengthen the onions and increase the average production yield in the following year after the flower harvest, simultaneously with the second irrigation (ground water) of 50 kg / ha of N fertilizer and one month later, simultaneous with the third irrigation of 50 kg / Acres of ammonium nitrate fertilizer.
He added that in February and March, three to four times, the cultivation of saffron farms with micronutrient fertilizers would be planted and the last irrigation (yellow water) of yellow saffron leaves should be done in April.
