Production of one ton of red gold (saffron) in the north of Kerman province
The head of the Jihad Agriculture Organization of Kerman province stated:
Saffron production in Kerman province reached tons per year.
Abbas Mollai said:
Saffron has been well received by farmers as an alternative product due to its arid and desert climate and the need for low water,
which also has a good quality.
He added:
Now in Kerman province, the area under cultivation of this crop has reached 400 hectares,
which has a growth of 20% compared to the early years of planting.
Malai stated that the average harvest of dry saffron per hectare in Kerman province is two kilograms per hectare and informed about the support
of farmers regarding the increase of facilities by 350 million Rials until next year and added:
the highest area under cultivation is in Zarand city.
Baft city currently has 70 hectares of saffron cultivation area, which produces a total of 60 kg of dry crop each year.
