Projection of Production of 1500 Kg of Saffron in Iran in Yazd Province
Seyyed Jamal Sajjadipour, head of Jihad Agriculture Department of Yazd province in Iran, said: 420 hectares of Saffron Zaozmand province is located in Behbad, Iran, with 265 hectares of farms producing this product, the largest share in the production of saffron in the province.
He added that the cities of Bafq, Mehriz and Abarkuh are also other major producers of saffron in the province.
Head of Agricultural Jihad Province said that Yazd has the seventh rank of saffron production in Iran, said saffron of Yazd province has a fairly high quality and, given that it is an irrigable product, annually 50 hectares of agricultural land This product is added to the province.
He said that the product was recommended to Yazdi farmers due to the dehydration crisis and the suitability of the province, said that the saffron plant had a seven-year yield, and then it should be re-cultivated again for efficiency.
Sajjadipur pointed out that from each ha of agricultural land in the province 4.5 kg of saffron was harvested, he noted: Of course, harvesting saffron is difficult, but now, however, four thousand people in the province are operating in the production and harvesting of saffron.
