Revenue of 14 billion Tomans for saffron farmers in Azadshahr
The director of Azadshahr Agricultural Jihad said: the area of saffron cultivation in Azadshahr city is about 220 hectares.
Seyyed Abdullah Hosseini, pointing out that it is predicted that about one ton of dry stigma will be collected this year, said: This year, the city’s saffron growers will have an income of 12 to 14 billion Tomans.
He added: Considering the seasonal employment of saffron, the cultivation of this product leads to the employment of 60,000 people.
Hosseini, referring to the forecast of a 15% increase in the area under saffron cultivation next year, clarified: By doing so, the field of employment will increase accordingly.
The director of Azadshahr Agricultural Jihad, stating that saffron in Azadshahr region is one of the highest quality saffron products in the country, asked farmers to pay special attention to improving the quality, health and production of organic saffron by increasing the area under cultivation and quantity of crop.
