Saffron conversion industries lead the city of Khomein to Khorasan
The director of Jihad Keshavarzi of Khomein city said: more than 98% of the saffron product of this city is sent to Khorasan province in bulk.
Ahmad Reza Jafari said: the area under saffron cultivation in Khomein city is 22 hectares. This amount of cultivated area has the potential to produce 100 kg of saffron.
He added: more than 98% of the city’s products are sent in bulk to Khorasan province and are combined with the saffron produced in this province and offered to the market.
Jafari said: saffron cultivation has been established as an alternative cultivation in the farms of this city due to the droughts and the decrease in the water level of water resources.
The director of Jihad Keshavarzi of Khomein city continued: the cultivation of this crop is increasing year by year due to the dehydration of the region, but the cultivated areas of this crop are small and scattered and not concentrated.
He considered the lack of saffron growers ‘union as a vacuum in this city and said: It is necessary to concentrate the levels of saffron cultivation to create an organization by the users themselves, and in this regard, the farmers should stand together and take action to create a saffron growers’ union.
Jafari said: Although we have announced our readiness in this regard, but the lack of a sense of cooperation in all sectors, including agriculture, industry and services in this sector is also observed.
The director of Jihad Keshavarzi of Khomein city, while pointing to the problems facing the establishment of a company, said: Accordingly, culturally, there is still no sense of cooperation and participation in order to create an organization among the beneficiaries.
He further considered the lack of conversion industries in this field as a vacuum and while announcing the readiness and support of the investor in this regard, said: considering the quality of saffron produced in this city, which is very high and competitive with saffron produced in Khorasan province, in line We declare our readiness to support the creation of conversion industries.
Jafari stated: According to the tests performed, the percentage of saffron essential oil produced by Khomein is higher than the saffron produced by Khorasan.
