Mohammad Reza Mirzai, Director of Agricultural Jihad in Eshtehard, Iran, said: “In recent years we have seen a drop in rainfall in Eshteard.
He said: “Reducing rainfall has caused estheticians to face a lot of problems with their crops.
Director of Agricultural Jihad Eshtehard added: “This dehydration has caused a part of the farmers in this city to bring the production of water-insoluble products, including zoghfran.
Mirzai added: Seven years ago, cultivation of saffron has started in central areas of Eshtehard in Iran, and now 15 hectares of agricultural land in this city is dedicated to the production of this product.
The official explained: if the process continues, the saffron will soon land 20 hectares.
Saffron is a resistant and consistent product and needs less water than many other products.
Mirza’i reminded: Due to the year-to-year decline in water resources, farmers, along with the cultivation of low-yielding crops, should consider the use of new irrigation systems in order to have sustainable employment and income generation.
