Saffron cultivation will become one of the main crops in Izeh city
The director of Izeh Agricultural Jihad announced the cultivation of saffron in 10 hectares for the first time in this city.
Mostafa Honarmandian stated: Saffron cultivation in Izeh city has been started on a small scale in the city for the past three years and this year, for the first time, this work will be done on more than 10 hectares.
He added: Based on the climatic conditions of Izeh and rainfall, fertility, altitude and excellent performance of saffron cultivation in the last three years is predicted, this year more than 800 grams of saffron per hectare will be harvested from Izeh farms.
The director of Izeh Agricultural Jihad Office stated that saffron cultivation will become one of the main crops of Izeh in the future, adding: Saffron onion has been fruitful for more than seven years and its main economic performance will start from the fourth year onwards.
Referring to the fact that saffron cultivation starts on September 6 and continues until November 6, he said: saffron harvest in the city will be done 20 days after the first rain of Izeh from farms, which we predict will be harvested in December.
