Saffron harvesting from Kermanshah province farms

Deputy Director for Plant Improvement at Kermanshah Agricultural Jihad Organization, said that in the current year, 200 kg of saffron is harvested from the province’s fields.

Speaking to the Tasnsim reporter in Kermanshah, Afshin Safavi, referring to the increase in the level of cultivation of saffron, said that this year, the cultivation area of ​​this product has increased by 18 percent to 80 hectares.

The deputy director of the improvement of herbal products of the Jihad-e-Agriculture Organization of Kermanshah province announced the start of harvesting of Saffron in the second decade of Aban and stated: From this date until the end of November, harvesting of saffron will take place, which is estimated to be taken from the 80-hectare saffron of 200 kilograms of this product.

Safavid stated that the cultivation of saffron is in line with the goals of the resistance economy, he said: The Agricultural Jihad Organization supports grapes cultivation by paying grants.

“About two to three hectares of farms in each city are used to cultivate saffron for the purpose of this organization to model and encourage farmers to cultivate this product,” he said about the goal of the Kermanshah Agricultural Jihad Organization in the field of saffron cultivation.

Safavid, said that in most areas of Kermanshah province, saffron is cultivated, added: This product is not cultivated in Qasre-shirin city and tropical parts of Sarepolzahab city due to lack of favorable climate conditions.
