Saffron Harvesting in Qom Province Farms
According to the group of provinces of the young journalists club of Qom; the cultivated area of saffron in Qom province is 7 hectares, which according to the yield per unit area of 3 kg, 21 kg of pure saffron was produced in Qom province.
The lawyer said: “This product is produced in the parts of Khalkhestan, Salafchegan and Galaxy, and saffron is one of the most expensive plants that will be of great benefit to farmers because of the lack of planting costs, if they are well taken care of every year.”
He added that the planting of saffron can employ a huge body of rural women and girls, not only to make employment and fill their leisure time, but also can make an effective contribution to the economy of the household.
Deputy Director of Plant Improvement at Qom Agricultural Jihad Organization said: Saffron is a tropical plant that grows well in places with moderate climates, with warm, dry and sunny summer and relatively mild autumn and winter, which grows on summer saffron bulbs There is no activity, the period of awakening and its activity from November to April, and with the beginning of the heat season its leaves are yellowish and swollen, and the onions are asleep, so the soil with the soil texture is also a good place to cultivate saffron.
Finally, from August to October, saffron can be cultivated, after planting the saffron gland on the ground for 7 to 4 years, and in some places it remains for 10 years and yields.
