Saffron production in Markazi province increased by 30%

Ahmad Asadi added: Last year, 350 kg of saffron was produced in Markazi province, and this index has increased to 500 kg this year.
He continued: Last year, saffron was grown on 147 hectares of agricultural lands in Markazi province. Due to the recommendations, economic benefits, sales market and agricultural jihad extension programs, its production has increased to 170 hectares of lands in this province this year.
Deputy of Horticulture of Jihad Keshavarzi of Markazi province stated: At present, there are 450 direct farmers in the field of saffron production in Markazi province and the main product of domestic production is in the province and the surplus is sent to other provinces.
Asadi pointed out: Manual cultivation, harvesting and processing of saffron has made farmers more interested in producing this product and is one of the factors to increase production of 20 hectares in Markazi province in one of the provinces of Iran.
He continued: Implementing the stages of saffron production manually and suitable climate of Markazi province increases the day, added the area under cultivation of this product in this province and it is predicted that in the near future this province will become one of the leading provinces in saffron production Be.
Horticulture Deputy of Jihad Keshavarzi of Markazi Province named Khomein, Mahallat, Delijan and Kamijan counties as the most important centers of saffron production in this province and continued: Khomein and Kamijan counties have the highest area under saffron cultivation and production in the province. Have allocated and saffron production in these cities is growing.
Asadi added: Establishing a cooperative company of saffron farmers in the province to increase production and develop saffron exports is one of the priority programs of the agricultural jihad in this province and it is hoped that the establishment of this cooperative will provide saffron exports directly from this province abroad.
Despite being industrial, Markazi province is one of the top 10 provinces in the country in the agricultural sector, where 90,000 farmers, including 20% ​​of the province’s employees, are active in this field.
There are 670,000 hectares of horticultural and agricultural lands in Markazi province, where one and two tenths percent of the agricultural production in excess of the province’s needs is sent to other regions.
Annually, agricultural products in 346 thousand hectares of agricultural lands of Markazi province, including 182 thousand hectares, equivalent to 52% under cultivation of irrigated crops and 164 thousand hectares, equivalent to 48% under cultivation of dryland crops.
Wheat, barley, rapeseed, sugar beet, potatoes, fodder corn and beans are the most important agricultural products of Markazi province.
