Serious damage to saffron fields in Gonabad city
The observer of UNIDO in Gonabad said:
due to the lack of rainfall in the last crop year and the excessive heat of this summer, saffron harvest in the city has decreased significantly.
Fatemeh Gavahi added:
Considering the completion of the saffron flower harvest,
the evidence shows that due to low rainfall in the winter of last year and the intensity of the summer heat of this year,
serious damage has been done to the saffron fields.
The observer of UNIDO in Gonabad added:
the rate of flowering is less than in previous years and saffron fields have faced a decrease in yield.
In the surrounding cities, saffron harvest has also decreased.
In cold villages upstream of Kakhk section of Gonabad, saffron harvest has decreased compared to last year.

In some farms, premature cold, frost and sudden and unexpected hail have broken saffron buds and seriously damaged this valuable product.
