Standardizing onions and saffron flowers are two important problems

The professor of the Department of Agriculture, Faculty of Agriculture, Ferdowsi University, stating that the standardization of onions and saffron flowers are two important problems in Iranian saffron cultivation, said: Onions are not standard and are bought and sold in bulk. The flowers are also dumped in bulk in vans. Therefore, our first priority in producing saffron is to organize these cases.

Alireza Kouchaki stated today in a roundtable discussion entitled Iranian saffron in the world arena held at the Faculty of Agriculture of Ferdowsi University: In the fifth international saffron symposium held in Morocco, about 74 people from 15 countries participated and Iran with 25 The participant had the largest number of participants.

He continued: What we realized in this symposium is that it seems that saffron is not cultivated anywhere in the world except Iran. Saffron fields are not seen anywhere in the world as they exist in our country; Therefore, saffron is definitely an Iranian product. The next symposium will be held in Iran in 2018, and considering that its theme is saffron and health, we will involve the schools of pharmacy and medicine in this symposium.

Professor of Agriculture, Faculty of Agriculture, Ferdowsi University, noting that saffron is the most expensive commodity in the world and is a plant that is grown in certain places, said: The total area under saffron cultivation in Iran is different and even in the fifth international saffron symposium in this regard Several different numbers have been mentioned, and now the Ministry of Jihad-e-Agriculture has announced that 350 tons of saffron were produced last year.

Kouchaki, stating that there are various statistics regarding the area under saffron cultivation, added: It is true that they say that Iran is a desert of statistics. We do not have order, system, pattern, account and book in any work, and we are like this in saffron.

He continued: Until we find order and the system is not created, we will still have problems. Progress begins in order, and this does not exist in our country. Everyone is their own boss and they make some kind of decision. We can’t sit together and decide together.
