A member of the National Saffron Council added: The suffering of the basic price of saffron in the Iranian customs for an average of $ 1,100 to $ 1,200 per kilogram should be a currency commitment to return the currency, but the saffron smuggler sells it at a price of about $ 600 to $ 700, which has become a problem. Has been. In the meantime, the smugglers sell low-quality products at the lowest prices, and this scam by the smugglers harms the export of saffron.
Virtual exporters who sell their saffron for $ 1,100 to $ 1,200 will do their utmost to meet international saffron standards and deliver what the real consumer in the world wants, he said. But the smuggler is not committed to any of these cases and mixes poor quality saffron and saffron-like plants with real saffron and sells it to the world market at half price, which makes the Iranian saffron infamous.
He said: about 400 tons of saffron is produced annually in the country, part of which is consumed in the country and most of it is exported.
