The area under saffron cultivation in Khaf city increased

The director of Khaf Agricultural Jihad announced an increase in the area under saffron cultivation in this city compared to the previous year and said: the area under saffron cultivation in this city has increased from 4,200 hectares last year to 4,600 hectares.

Rahman Dadpour added: Last year, 14 tons of saffron were harvested in Khaf, which due to the increase in the area under cultivation, this amount will increase to about 16 tons this year.

He announced and predicted the average harvest of saffron in Khaf this year as 3.5 tons per hectare: in the harvest period of this year, ie mid-November to the end of December, the yield of this crop will increase by half a kilogram per hectare.

Khaf has 20,000 hectares of irrigated fields, 360,000 head of livestock and 14,000 farmers, and produces 160,000 tons of agricultural, horticultural and livestock products annually.
