In this regard, Mohammad Nabizadeh, Dehyar of Seno village of Gonabad stated: about 700 hectares under saffron cultivation related to Seno villages, Mosirz, Khanik and Sarasiab have been irrigated from Seno water spring, of which 500 hectares belong to Seno village farms.
He said that Seno village is the center of saffron production in southern Khorasan Razavi, adding: On average, 200 tons of saffron flowers are harvested annually from the farms of Seno village.
He continued: The saffron flower market in Seno village is more than 50 years old and saffron flowers are mostly sold in bulk in this market and also most of the Seno saffron is sent to Ghainat, Torbat-e-Heydariyeh, Ferdows and Gonabad cities.
Dehyar said: According to the experiments that have been done in the past, the saffron in Seno village of Gonabad is of better quality than other cities.
Nabizadeh, stating that unfortunately the price of saffron has fallen every year and this price is not affordable for farmers, added: In the discussion of saffron conversion, processing and packaging industries, no action has been taken so far and even in Gonabad saffron there is no brand that can speak for That is to say, saffron is packaged and supplied in Gonabad itself under the name of Ghaenat saffron.
Nabizadeh pointed out: Training for farmers in the field of extension is also weak and there is a need to provide training to farmers on different stages of planting and harvesting saffron, because in this case the production efficiency will also increase.
