The world price of saffron should be determined by Iran
The CEO of the Central Organization of Rural Cooperatives of Iran announced the supply of saffron in the Iranian Commodity Exchange for the first time with the aim of benefiting producers and increasing the export capacity of Iranian saffron and said: this supply with its mechanisms ready, 400 kg from next Sunday starts.
Rural Cooperative Organization Ali Avsat Hashemi, stating that now 85% of the world’s saffron is produced in Iran, added: With this volume of saffron production, we have the inalienable right to be the founder of the World Saffron Exchange and determine the global base price of this product.
Hashemi, referring to the types of saffron ready to be offered in the commodity exchange, stated: The types of saffron ready to be offered in the exchange include 100 kg of premium cut saffron (Negin), 100 kg of premium cut saffron (pseudo-Negin or Sargol), 100 kg of saffron First grade noodles (high quality straw) and finally 100 kg of saffron is second grade noodles (ordinary straw).
According to the director of the Central Organization of Rural Cooperatives of Iran, the price of saffron ready for supply will be announced at the time of supply in the commodity exchange.
Emphasizing that the supply of saffron in the commodity exchange is a way to develop export markets, Hashemi added: With the beginning of the supply of saffron in the stock exchange, it will provide benefits to producers and activists in the saffron market and while organizing the export of this valuable product, will end the role of profiteers. It will be a saffron broker.
He said: With this method, we will control and stabilize the price of saffron and if necessary, we will stop the export of saffron because everyone should understand that the Iranian producer should set the world price of saffron, not brokers and Profiteers who only pursue their own interests.
Hashemi mentioned the implementation of the agreed saffron purchase plan to support farmers and saffron growers by rural cooperatives as a positive experience, adding: The purchased saffron is kept in standard conditions and has a very good quality.
The CEO of the Central Organization of Rural Cooperatives of Iran continued: These saffrons will all be offered under the national brand of Iran and will represent the quality and superior product of Iranian saffron in the world.
In the end, Hashem mentioned the farmers and producers of saffron as determining the situation of Iranian saffron in the world market and added: Producers can standardize and observe hygiene in the production of their product by compiling a modern model, observing customer rights in global markets and On the other hand, buyers will also welcome this product.
