We plan to develop saffron cultivation in Kermanshah
The head of the Jihad Agricultural Organization of Kermanshah province announced the development of saffron cultivation in this province.
Khosrow Shahbazi in the meeting of the representative of the Supreme Leader in the province and the Friday prayer leader of Kermanshah with farmers, nomads and organizations of the agricultural sector of this province, said: Fajr decade this year with the opening and operation of 160 agricultural projects with a credit of more than 212 billion rials People were accompanied in Kermanshah province.
Shahbazi mentioned the inaugural projects of the Fajr decade of this year, including 134 water and soil sub-projects, eight livestock projects, five crop production projects, seven agricultural processing projects, four natural resources projects and two fisheries projects.
The head of the Kermanshah Agricultural Jihad Organization mentioned the dispatch of service teams to the earthquake-stricken areas of Kermanshah province, free vaccination of livestock with priority given to the earthquake-stricken areas, etc., among other measures taken by the Kermanshah Agricultural Jihad during the Fajr decade this year .
Shahbazi then, referring to the plan to develop rapeseed cultivation in Kermanshah province for the past two years, added: in the first year, one thousand hectares and in the second year, four thousand hectares of the province’s lands were cultivated rapeseed.
Shahbazi added: This year, the area under rapeseed cultivation in Kermanshah province has reached 7300 hectares.
Shahbazi added: In the last crop year, the average yield of rapeseed in the lands of Kermanshah province was 2 tons and 400 kg and Kermanshah had the highest yield of rapeseed in Iran.
Shahbazi mentioned the breaking of the record of rapeseed production in Iran and even Europe in one of the rapeseed fields in Kermanshah province last year with a production of 9 tons and 271 kg per hectare as a great success for the province in the field of agriculture.
Referring to the increase of 13 hectares of saffron cultivation in Kermanshah province, he said: Currently, we have 105 hectares of saffron in the province.
Shahbazi mentioned the development of saffron cultivation as one of the priorities of the province due to its low water demand and its economy.
He said that this year we had a plan to develop about 5,000 hectares of gardens in the province, he said: due to lack of funding, this important thing was not achieved and we saw an increase in the level of gardens to 1,500 hectares in the province.
Shahbazi, referring to the 7.3 magnitude earthquake on November 13 in Kermanshah province and the damages that this earthquake caused to the agricultural sector of the province, said: the earthquake caused 290 billion tomans of damage to the agricultural sector of the province.
