Shahbazi, pointing out that the level of saffron cultivation in the province is still increasing, added: Supports are provided for saffron cultivation in the province, so that we have a credit line for the development of saffron cultivation and from 1394 to 1397 in Hamadan province 674 million Tomans Saffron growers are given.
The director of horticulture affairs of Hamedan Jihad-e-Agriculture Organization reminded: in 2004, 52 kg of saffron was produced in Hamedan province, which has reached more than 548 kg this year.
Shahbazi, stating that the production of saffron in the province is of high quality due to climatic conditions, said: One of the advantages of saffron is that it can be supplied during a year and will not have a problem in terms of market and price.
Referring to the establishment of a saffron growers’ association in Hamedan province, he emphasized: Saffron drying is done in a traditional way. Therefore, we are looking to create a saffron processing unit in the province so that this product can be produced and offered under the provincial brand.
He added: Malayer city with 73 hectares and production of 261 kg, has the highest area under cultivation and production of saffron, followed by Razan with 16 hectares of cultivated area and 65 kg of production in the second place in the province.
The director of horticulture affairs of Hamedan Jihad-e-Agriculture Organization stated: The average yield of saffron production in Hamedan province was 4 kg per hectare, which is higher than the national average of 3.8 kg.
Shahbazi, emphasizing that saffron is one of the products that has the least pests and diseases, said: The amount of water consumption per hectare of saffron is 3000 cubic meters, which is very low.
He has just started the development of saffron cultivation in Hamedan province and will gradually become one of the producers of saffron onions, he noted: Hamedan province is ranked 14th in terms of saffron cultivation area and 13th in terms of saffron production.
